Why should we take care of our gut health?

Our gut is the foundation of our health. It is crucial to take care of it and maintain its proper functioning.

Disruptions in gut function can manifest through the following symptoms and conditions:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Joint pain

  • Headaches

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Hypothyroidism

  • Poor memory

  • Autoimmune diseases

  • Anemia

  • Atherosclerosis

  • Sarcopenia

  • Hair loss and more.

Gut dysfunction is often accompanied by microbiota imbalance. About 100 trillion bacteria of various species live in our intestines. These bacteria are our friendly flora, playing a significant role in our immune health, producing B-group vitamins, and directly influencing our mood.

These bacteria feed on the food we consume. Therefore, it is essential to consider what we are providing them. Foods that our "little friends" love and that strengthen them are those rich in fiber (greens, leafy vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds). Fermented products, which contain prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics (e.g., pickled cabbage and all types of pickled vegetables), as well as fermented dairy products, are also beneficial.

Add these types of foods to your diet and start consuming them in small amounts daily.

Wishing you good health!
